Christ in Christmas

Happy Birthday, Jesus!

“For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

Luke 2:11-14 NKJV

The angels were singing to the shepherds in the field, as they were watching their sheep.

Then the shepherds came to worship baby Jesus.

The Wise Men arrived later.     It took a long time to follow the star!

December 25th is not literally the date Jesus Christ was born.    We don’t know the actual date, because there isn’t a historical record.    We do know when in the timeline of earth, because there is a record of when the Wise Men came.     In the reign of King Herod, he ordered all baby boys killed, 2 and under.    He wanted to make sure he killed the Messiah.     But in God’s wisdom, baby Jesus and his family were already in Egypt.     An angel had come to Joseph to warn him to flee.

I don’t think it really matters the actual date Christ was born, only that we honor Him, and worship Him.     But not just at Christmas, and Easter, but all year long.

Do you have Jesus in your heart and life?    The best gift ever is Christ’s love, and the redemption He offers.     His advent as a baby was wonderous, and amaZing!

The angels sang.     God the Father looked down in love.

We all celebrate, and rejoice in the coming of Christ the King!
